History of Christopher Radko Christmas Ornaments

Christopher Radko's journey into creating the world renown Christopher Radko brand of holiday glass ornaments all began with the crash of Christopher Radko's family Christmas tree many years ago. As many of us have unfortunately experienced with the fall of a Christmas tree or the drop of an ornament, the breakage of a family heirloom or prized Christmas ornament can be extremely upsetting, but the Radko Christmas tree was different than your standard family tree since it proudly displayed over 1,000 vintage glass ornaments. The loss of all the Radko family vintage, mouth-blown ornaments sent Christopher Radko on a mission that ended with the launch of the Christopher Radko brand of fine collectible Christmas ornaments and holiday decor.

As if by legend, the tale of the Radko family tree collapse led to Christopher searching far and wide all over the world for vintage glass ornaments to begin to replace the family heirloom ornament collection. The journey to replace his family Holiday collection proved to be unsuccessful since all the ornaments Christopher located were inferior to the vintage glass ornaments destroyed in the family tree collapse. And so, as the saying goes, Christopher decided the only way to get the quality and style of holiday ornaments he remembered from his family tree was to create the Christmas ornaments himself... and so Christopher Radko Christmas Ornaments were born.

Starting from square one, Christopher joined with a Polish glass blower to begin to recreate the vintage ornaments that now existed only in Christopher's memories. Using time-honored, mouth-blown glass techniques, the first ornaments in what was destine to become a collection of the finest Christmas Ornaments in the world was born in the Christopher Radko brand.

In 1985, Christopher Radko designed and produced sixty Christmas ornaments, and with unique designs and the highest quality, each year the Radko Holiday collection of glass ornaments and holiday decor has increased. In 2010 Christopher Radko celebrated its 25th anniversary with more than a quarter century of excellence in designing and creating the finest holiday ornaments. Christopher Radko has now produced over fifteen million glass ornaments and the number of Christmas ornaments in each Radko collection increases each year.

More impressive than the growth of the sales of size of the Christopher Radko collection of holiday ornaments and decor is the continued commitment to tradition and quality. Radko glass ornaments are still produced in Europe by a highly experienced team of true artisans and craftsmen thus keeping with the original, time-honored process to produce heirloom family treasures.

Each Christopher Radko glass Christmas ornament is still handmade using molds carved by hand. Once the ornament mold is made, the craftsmen use the same process from the Renaissance time frame in molding, glass blowing, lining with silver, painting and finishing by hand to develop the finest glass ornaments. The process to create a Christopher Radko ornament takes several weeks and is still largely performed by a team of artists many of whom have been with Christopher Radko since the beginning of the creation of the Radko brand.

Today the collection of Christopher Radko ornaments have expanded into many smaller collections. Each year a new collection of Christopher Radko Charity Ornaments is specifically designed to support numerous different charity causes. With the introduction of the first Christopher Radko Charity Awareness ornament for AIDS research released in 1992, these Radko Charity ornaments have served as a way for Radko to give back and create charity awareness. The current Christopher Radko Charity Awareness ornaments include: Breast Cancer, Pediatric Cancer, AIDS, Diabetes, Animal Charities, Heart Disease and Alzheimer's to name a few. These special charity ornaments have raised millions of dollars for research and awareness funding to help charity causes.
